EMG/NCV
Nerve conduction velocity (NCV) and electromyography are diagnostic tests utilized to determine conditions that can affect peripheral nerves and muscles. It consists of applying electrical impulses and probing muscles with small needle for analysis. This test may detect conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, pinched nerves, muscle disease and possibly detect the cause of numbness, pain or weakness. It can also exclude certain conditions or point to a different ones during neurological evaluation.
The testing usually lasts 30-40 minutes and you will be informed how to prepare for the test.
