Tremors & Movement Disorders
Movement disorder are separate category of neurological disorder. Abnormality of movements, tremors, shaking, stiffening of the extremities, ticks, difficulty with gait or coordination are some of the symptoms of movement disorders.
Parkinson’s Disease is one of the most common movement disorders that is caused by degeneration of certain areas of the brain. Tremors are present as part of Parkinson’s syndrome, but also independently or part of a different disorder.
Evaluation includes imaging studies,laboratory evaluation and memory testing if that becomes evident.
Treatment includes: medication, physical therapy, BOTOX® Cosmetic injections or referral to another specialist for corrective measures. For patients with debilitating movement disorder deep brain stimulators may be offered by a neurosurgeon.
